I broke down and made myself a page on Facebook. [link]
I'm still not really comfortable with FB's copyright policy wording, so I won't be uploading complete artwork. Just crops, photographs of art, and watermarked stuff. Other than that I'm not really sure what to do with it, besides post the art and biology news I have that is probably annoying the friends and family that don't really have the same interests I do. It would be really awesome if people outside my facebook friends would come and "like" it though. :meow:

Facebook is actually a really good idea. You tend to pick up watchers who otherwise wouldn't know about your work. I'd suggest posting pictures of those shoes that you paint, and if you can scrape together some money, you might even consider making a Facebook ad for them. You can also post news about what you're doing art-wise, or even just post science-related videos and articles that are of interest to you; I know a lot of my watchers like the biology stuff I post, even if it isn't directly related to my art.

Also, I wouldn't worry too much about Facebook's copyright policy. I doubt they'd want to deal with the shitstorm that would ensue if they started selling other peoples' works. This article might allay your fears a little: [link]

Everything's in accordance with how you set your privacy settings, so on a page everything is public by default. I still have to treat artwork like its being posted to Tumblr or dA, blast them with watermarks.
